Two methods:
Air tubes underground. Lead into the house – as a solar chimney pulls air from the house, cool air is drawn from the ground tubes into the house. Romans used these for cooling.
Geothermal Heating And Cooling uses a heat pump to both heat and cool the house using a ground loop heat sink/source. A simpler method simply uses a water pump, radiator, and a ground loop. The ground stays at a constant 54F, so a large enough ground loop would cool the water close to that temperature, which you can then use to cool the house with a blower and radiator. A water pump is significantly cheaper to run than an air conditioning compressor. More expensive than the air version above, but may be able to provide greater cooling capacity.
Trench and bury earth tubes for free cooling. Not terribly hard before the house is built, but quite difficult after.
